On Sunday the 8th of September the first joint Anglican -Lutheran service was held at St Georges, Taormina led by the locum priest Revd Richard Frost and Pastor Andreas Latz. Seventy people attended the service ,twenty eight of whom were a choir who had especially flown from Pastor Latz's former church in Hanover , Germany . The choir singing in their mother tongue enriched the Common Worship, Holy Communion liturgy by singing some beautiful anthems during the course of the service . It was good to note the Sister in charge of the local Franciscan order was also present at the service to add to the ecumenical initiative . A visit to the convent was conducted after the service which has close connections with St Georges. Many of the visitors present from various parts of the world expressed their appreciation which was reflected in the offertory ( nearly 400 euros) and also the warm welcome and hospitality extended by members during and after the service . St Georges are to be congratulated on their efforts in making this joint service happen which will take place on the second Sunday of every month.
